Jannette Bonrouhi-Zakiam Memorial Alumni Run starts cross country season

Numerous alumni, family and friends of the Ithaca women's and men's cross country teams gathered on campus this weekend and participated in the Jannette Bonrouhi-Zakiam Memorial Alumni Run on Saturday morning.

Salmon Takes Over As Geneseo's Volleyball Coach

Jen Salmon, a 2002 Ithaca graduate, was recently named head volleyball coach at Geneseo. Salmon, the most recent four-time all-region Bomber, joins another former Bomber as a head coach at an upstate New York college -- Ryan Baker, a 2003 graduate who worked as an assistant coach at Ithaca, is entering his third year as head coach at Colgate University.

Ciotoli's coaching helps make Jones a fast riser in world of mixed martial arts

Ryan Ciotoli, a three-time all-American Bomber wrestler and current assistant coach at his alma mater, is making a name for himself as a manager/trainer in Mixed Martial Arts.

WICB and VIC Announce Fall Radio Schedule

Radio stations WICB and VIC have announced their schedule of fall sports broadcasts. The stations' coverage, which can be heard online, will include field hockey, football, men's soccer and women's soccer. Additions to the broadcast schedule -- including Bomber playoff games will be made as necessary throughout the fall season.

Dennis Returns To Alma Mater

Sophie Dennis, who spent the 2007 season as a graduate assistant coach with Ithaca's field hockey team, returned to her alma mater as an assistant coach on the William Smith staff. Dennis, Division III's 10th all-time leading scorer, was on the sideline for Ithaca's first win over William Smith in nine years -- a 3-2 overtime victory 3-2 w 3-2 overtime victory when the undefeated Herons were ranked seventh.

Hamburg & Francis Take New Baseball Positions

Fritz Hamburg and Chris Francis, former Bomber baseball players who also spent time on the coaching staff at their alma mater, have both been named to coaching roles at new schools.

Hamburg, an all-American catcher on Ithaca's 1988 national championship team, was recently named head coach at Division I St. Joseph's. The 2007 ABCA Assistant Coach of the Year while at the U.S. Military Academy, he joins two other current Division I head coaches who played for Bomber coach George Valesente: Army's Joe Sottolano and Pennsylvania's John Cole. Valesente is the only active coach -- at any level of college baseball -- to have coached three current Division I head coaches.

Francis, a Bomber pitcher and former assistant at Rochester and Virginia Wesleyan, is an assistant coach at Division II Mansfield. The Mountaineers had been a regular part of Ithaca's schedule for years, but have not faced the Bombers since 2005.

ICTV's Bombers Football Coverage Wins National Award

While Ithaca fans watch the Bomber football team chase another championship this fall, they can do so by watching championship-winning coverage.

ICTV's Bombers Football was selected as the winner in the Non-Professional Sports Coverage category in the Alliance for Community Media 2008 Hometown Video Awards!

The 2007 edition of Bombers Football was produced by Jack Dugan and Luke Uttaro. The 2008 version gets underway Sept. 6 when Ithaca hosts Lycoming at Butterfield Stadium. Information about the fourth straight season of free webcasting will be available next week.
